Cake Smash & Splash Sessions

Our Cake Smash Sessions are the perfect way for your baby or toddler to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion!

Our award winning photo-shoot sessions offer a fun packed session for your little one to enjoy.  The expressions captured during the session are just priceless!  Where else are you actually encouraged to play with your food?!

If cake isn’t an option for your little one, then we can always use fruit (strawberries, watermelon or maybe blueberries all work well) or perhaps even jelly! Or try a spaghetti smash, if you’re feeling really brave!!  The sky’s the limit when it comes to imagination and we are more than happy to suggest alternatives for your little one to try out.

Don’t worry, we won’t ask you to clear up afterwards! The more mess the better when it comes to capturing a great set of shots of your young demolition expert! We do suggest that you bring a change of clothes for yourself and your baby – things are likely to get very messy!

What do I need to bring with me?

Because of any dietary and allergy issues your child may have, we do ask you to source your own cake/fruit or other delectable edibles to bring along to the session. If you need any help with recommendations on cake suppliers, we’re more than happy to advise.  As standard, you’ll receive a pre-shoot consultation before the day of your Cake Smash, to help you plan ahead.

We have a wide range of backgrounds and props to use, here at the studio, or you are welcome to bring your own, if you prefer.

Our useful guide, supplied to all our Smash & Splash session bookings, contains lots of  information about what to bring and every other aspect of the session itself.

Little ones start off their 1 hour session with a series of “before” shots. These can be of them by themselves (and/or with parents/siblings, as preferred).This is followed by the “main event” where the cake (or fruit etc)  takes centre stage (at least for a few minutes!).

An hour may not seem that long for such a fun-packed session but your baby will get tired out quite quickly with so much going on.  Because of this, we advise that you avoid making an appointment on the actual date of your baby’s birthday as they may have too many changes to their day-to-day routine already, without adding to the excitement of having a photo-shoot too!  Likewise, try and limit the amount of people you bring with you to the session to just two people, wherever possible.

If your baby isn’t keen on getting stuck in –  and some children just aren’t as interested as others – encourage some “messy play” in the run-up to your appointment. We also have lots of tips to encourage them to join in during the shoot!

Never heard of a “splash” session before ?

We’ll finish off the session with the “Splash” part of the event. A chance for your baby to clean up in our cute mini victorian-style roll top bath while we capture them splashing about with the bubbles! It’s a perfect size for your baby to enjoy (and who doesn’t enjoy a soak in a bubbly bath, after a busy day?!). Our bubble machine is always a very popular addition to this part of the session!

We include the “splash” part of the session at no extra cost. Please let us know if you’d like to include this at the time you make your booking with us.

What happens next?

At the end of the session, we’ll show you the images we’ve created for you, in your own private viewing area, on our large screen. Choose your favourites to make into beautiful products such as  print boxes, acrylic prints or multi aperture frames that are sure to make you smile whenever you look at them.
